You may remember that my son has a girlfriend from Denmark. Last year, the drama was all about whether my just about sixteen-year-old should travel 14 hours by bus to see her.

Breakfast in Denmark

This year, because of Covid-19, we decided to drive him to see her. Flixbus has some great-sounding rules in place, like wear a mask for the entire trip, etc., but in reality, when the driver is at the wheel, will he really check people adhere to it?

So we decided on the fly to drive him to Aarhus and to stay in an Airbnb for ten days as our summer holiday.

Somebody forgot to tell us that we may be by the sea, but this is no summer vacation 😀

One night, our landlord invited us to a bonfire and we partied until midnight. Boy, was it COLD!

We took long walks on the beach, watching the Danes swim and play, but the water is only 57 F. Even wading in it is painful to my Middle-European feet!

But the countryside was gorgeous, the Danes are super-friendly, and the cottage we stayed in is delightful. The picture is of our breakfast after a long night toasting around the campfire 🙂 Denmark is well worth a visit!

If you’d like to see more pictures of seascapes and quirky Danish towns, here they are.

Btw, you can now preorder Second Chance Fate, book 1 of the Second Chance Academy series. Check it out!

And follow me on Goodreads, if you haven’t already. Thanks 🙂

Did you manage to get away this summer?
